The Flinders Beast
The club commenced as a small sided football club catering for junior primary only. Following the hard work of a team of soccer lovers and dedicated parents we now have a fabulous club that spans a number of age groups through to the high school and boast many passionate and talented soccer players as members.
Mission Statement
To provide the opportunity to allow every player to develop into the very best they can be. To enable all levels of enjoyment of the game to be catered for within the club. To strive for excellence be this as a winning soccer team or a team who loves playing with their school mates and enjoying socialising through exercise regardless of the result. The club focus will always be team spirit, skill development and a love of sport.
Strategy for 2012
From U10 and upwards where numbers permit there will be grading to identify the players with the greatest skill level and the most commitment. This is in line with the directive of the Federation and will be undertaken across all football clubs. Players can choose not to participate in grading if their preference is to be a social player.
Grading will be conducted by the professional coaches in conjunction with our valued parent coaches. The grading process will be comprised of a series of drills and then games.
A development squad will then be established for each age level. This will be somewhat fluid thereby enabling players to join this squad as they develop. The development squad must commit to two training sessions a week with a professional coach. Members must also commit to play in the recreational teams as mentors on a rotation basis. An opportunity will also be provided for these players to play in higher age groups from time to time to allow extension of development.
Recreation players will commit to train one day a week. If they are interested in developing they are welcome to join additional training. They must also commit to attend weekly games.
Commencing 2012 the club will employ professional coaches for all teams Under 10 and above. Parents help will still be both necessary and welcome as mangers, and assisting in set up and even with coaching where possible and various other roles. Parental involvement in children’s sport is still very special for all children concerned.
From under 8 and above there will be increased focus on an understanding of positional play.
Flinders Football club run a 5 day clinic in the September school holidays facilitated by professional coaches and the opportunity to attend will be open to all club members.
