Sunshine Coast Fire FC Trials and Junior Academy

The Sunshine Coast Fire FC are holding trials between 9th and 11th Feb to identify the best young football talent on the coast. They are awarding one coaching scholarships for a male player in each age group from 7 to 11 years old and two coaching scholarships for females aged between 9 and 12 years old. The Fire are particularly keen to get more 11 year olds at the trials.

For more info and to register for the trials visit the Fire’s Academy website

Junior Academy

The Fire are also running a Junior Academy Program which is their official development pathway, and a complete football program giving vital technical development in a professional training environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for children who are looking to develop their full potential.

The academy and training is overseen by Rui Spinola (read about Rui here )who did some coaching with some of the FFC players last year and carried out a separate 10 week program towards the end of 2012. Having seen the training sessions first hand and watched how Rui conducts things I would recommend that you consider this program if your child is keen to improve their game.

Please note, the Monday training sessions are temporarily at Peregian. I have been told that arrangements are being made to move this session to a more central location.

Calling All Players in Year 7 and Above

For the first time the school has an opportunity for our soccer players to play in an after school , school based competition which commences in Term 1 ie. VERY SOON.

Players can represent the College in Wednesday afternoon football matches in Term 1 this year. Training is scheduled for Monday afternoons on the Banana Oval.

This is a great way to enjoy soccer with your mates and also keep your weekends free. The comp. is run by the school not Flinders Football but it would be great if you could support this exciting new opportunity.

Team nominations need to be finalised by Friday Feb 8th, so if you are interested please email Mr Cameron Scally on
